Introducing Peter J. Guptil ; born in February 1981. It was the pleasure of Lily the Love Frog, Inc to present our first years' Bassford scholarship to Peter , at the end of the year Silent Titans meeting held on the Clearwater Campus of Saint Petersburg College. After incumbent President "Patty Crance" announced the award, Peter agreed to meet with us for an interview.
Tom Cooney (TC), Vice President and Co-founder of Lily the Love Frog, Inc interviewed Peter Guptil (PG).
T.C. Peter would you mind sharing with our reader's information about you and your family?
P.G I was born in Detroit Michigan , and both of my parents live in Tampa . My Father Peter Sr. manages a Dollar Rent a Car in Tampa . My Mom is a housewife. I have a brother Charles who lives in Minnesota and a stepbrother named skipper, he lives in Tampa and a stepsister named Doreen , who lives in Boston . I am the baby of the family.
T.C That's nice, (smiles) baby of the family (nods head) .. What is school like for you ?
P.G. Oh, It has not been easy for me. As I work my way through various classes I remind my self " patience is the key" I do consider myself a successful student. My early years were at Fairbanks elementary in Marietta , Georgia then South Plantation high school in South Fort Lauderdale , Fl. At the college level there are times my patience is tested, but I firmly believe I CAN DO IT!
T.C Do you think Deafness keeps you from learning?
P.G. Like I told you, I believe I can do it! My deafness does not hold me back nor does it put me down. It may take me a little more time, but that's all (smiles). I know I will accomplish my goal and that's the important thing.
